Hello,

 

I read on the FAQ of this website that on the 3rd week of water fasting day 14-21, you will start to notice less weight loss and this is because the body is shrinking the skin. If I were to do a 7 or 14 day fast would I still get some of the benefits or would they just be diminished? Another question I have about autophagy is how long would you recommend fasting for psychological benefits?

Yes you certainly do still get the benefits of the body shrinking the skin, but for some reason if you’re fasting for 3 weeks or more on the 3rd week the body tends to focus primarily on shrinking the body versus weight loss. I have noticed psychological benefits of fasting as early as 10 days but typically if you have some deep-seated issues the longer you fast the better 40 day fast to being great for emotional and psychological trauma.

Awesome thank you for the response Chris. I think I will go for a 21-40 day fast then. Another topic that I was pretty curious about was Distilled water. I am not sure if you are familiar with Reddit, but on the subreddit r/fasting people think that it is legitimately liquid cancer. Also in that subreddit most of them believe that electrolytes are a must for fasts. I have done some research and saw that yourself, Dr. Fung and Dr.Goldhamer all use distilled water. I watched your video on why you chose distilled water and am now starting to lean on using distilled for my next fast. What is your opinion on people who say that using distilled water for fasts lead to kidney stones? Also what is your opinion on the occasional use of electrolytes for times where you need to focus or when you have a bad headache, lightheaded,ect? Would you attribute these things to detox symptoms?

One last random question. So I watched this video on YouTube of a guy who did a 13 day distilled water fast and around day 8 or so he put a tablespoon of honey in his water. On another day he squeezed half of a lemon into his water. What is your opinion on something like this? I’m sure that these things helped the guy through the fast, but how much will they effect the outcome of the fast?
