This video was interesting and fun for me to do. I got a lot of amazing reactions on the video, especially about my hair LOL. I was talking to one of you all about how important it is to teach our kids what healthy snacks really are, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear that this person not only teaches their child about healthy snacks, but also lets their seven-year-old watch my videos (gotta keep it PG for the kiddies).
I received a couple good questions. One question in particular was actually asked a couple of times, so I figured I should bring it up. Is it okay to drink kefir? Now those of you who are fairly familiar with my opinions on food, know that I don’t promote dairy products in any way, shape or form. When it comes to kefir, it’s a double whammy, while I haven’t made this extremely prevalent in conversation, I don’t promote fermented foods. Now, part of the reason I don’t promote fermented foods, goes back to the idea that the body has the ability to self-regulate. Most people who are using fermented foods for the health benefits, are doing so because it helps to replace what they call “healthy bugs” or bacteria in the body. I don’t know that there’s anything wrong with that, which is why I haven’t really made it a main topic of discussion on the channel, but I do know that the body has the ability to self-regulate on every level. So basically, I don’t believe the body needs us to go in and manually replace certain bacteria. The problem comes in when you now have too much of what you consider a healthy bacteria in the gut, it’s a science balancing the bacteria in the gut and it’s something that I’m not interested in trying to figure out when the body’s already figured it out. Waaaaay too much extra work. All in all I think that there may be some benefit to utilizing fermented foods and things such as probiotics, but I think we need to take a much closer look at the potential hazards of using these things or the overuse of these things. Also a good rule of thumb, if you have to continuously use something, it is now a treatment, it doesn’t matter if you consider that thing to be good or not, we should not have to take probiotics, we should not have to constantly drink kefir to balance out our healthy bacteria. It’s something that should happen naturally, and with that being said, I do not consider kefir a healthy snack.
One comment I just kind of wanted to address. Someone mentioned that the cookies were gluten-free vegan and that I should live life. That comment was extremely interesting to me, because eating foods that slowly damage your system, causes decay and eventually kills you, would be the complete opposite of living life LOL. Honestly I think that everyone has to make their own personal decisions and figure out what they want in the future. The information that I’m putting out is just to empower you all to have the ability to make the right decision. If you don’t know that those cookies are in any way harming you, sure you eat them without regard, but if you at least know that they are in some way harming you, you can use moderation. My goal is to put out the raw uncut truth and then you all can cut it and chop it and decide how much you want to use it, how hard you want to go, and what the end results are you desire.
I’m looking for health beyond what is considered healthy. I’m looking to live a much longer life than the average, and I don’t want to live that decrepit long life that we keep seeing as people hit the 100-plus mark. You’re super wrinkly, move slow, and clearly are shutting down, nope!! I want that vibrant, do everything on my own, still living life, still having fun, still exploring, 100-plus year old life and in order to achieve that, I have to do what other people aren’t willing to do, but that’s okay ’cause this journey is fun and exciting, I’m enjoying the quality of life I currently have and I look forward to new discoveries in the future. 🤗
